Clinical Evaluation of Chlormadinone Acetate on Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

Abstract
Twenty benign prostatic hypertrophy patients whose average age were 65 were treated with Chlormadinone acetate for 3 months. Subjective symptoms were improved over 80 % in all of the evaluated urologic problems. Aggravation of symptoms were found in none of the patients.
Objective findings such as prostatic size, residual urine were improved in 65~75% of patients. The uroflow study was done in 5 patients before and after the treatments and they showed improved voided volume and average flow rates in all cases and maximum flow rates in 4 cases.
No adverse reactions were observed except decreased livido and transient erectile failure in 2 patients. In conclusion, it is suggested that Chlormadinone acetate is effective and safe for the conservative treatment of benign prostic hyperplasia.
